City of the Future: Event Planning
Program Overview: In this hands-on high school study abroad program, students will explore the intersection of urban innovation, sustainability, and strategic communication. Set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most influential cities, students will dive into the challenges and opportunities of designing livable, future-ready urban spaces inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Through workshops, team challenges, and visits to leading institutions, students will develop skills in creative planning, public speaking, budgeting, and persuasive communication. Hosted at Georgetown University, this program empowers students to think like urban planners and event strategists as they bring their vision of a better city to life.
Final Project: City of the Future: Groups compete to design the most innovative and livable city based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Given a budget, they will put on a city launch event to present their visit and convince others to move to their city. The team who has the best convinced others to move to their city is the winning team. Events will be held at Georgetown University.
