Power, People & Perspective: Leadership Lessons from Rome
Program Overview: This engaging high school study abroad program explores how leadership evolves in response to society's needs. Students will analyze how leaders have risen—and fallen—based on their vision, communication, and service to others. Through site visits to ancient forums, Vatican City, and civic institutions, students will examine real-world examples of political, cultural, and moral leadership. This program challenges students to consider how context, power, and personal values shape effective leadership in today’s interconnected world.
Final Project: Students will act as future leaders participating in a “Rome Summit Simulation” focused on solving a major global issue like climate change, migration, or digital misinformation. Working in teams, they will represent different regions and practice negotiating and finding compromises to create a shared action plan. Their proposals will be judged on how well they balance practical solutions, ethical leadership, and teamwork—reflecting the real challenges faced by leaders working together around the world.
